Anna Born has been the principal at Overland since Spring of 2004. During that time she has helped lead such developments as the Science Lab, the Library and the Discovery Garden and has guided Overland Elementary in becoming a School for Advanced Studies.
Overland Elementary School first opened its doors in 1931. What started then as a neighborhood school has now grown into a school for advanced studies with students from throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Teachers, parents, students and alumni, as well as the surrounding neighborhood and business community of the Los Angeles west side, have all worked enthusiastically toward building this distinguished academic school. This development has provided our children with opportunities for greater academic excellence and cultural diversity without losing the personal caring, nurturing, safety, and intimacy of a neighborhood school.
