Governance

Leadership at Overland is shared by the following stakeholders: administration, teachers, aides, parents, students, and community members.  We have teams and councils composed of various stakeholders that function in a leadership role and work together to support student learning. The leadership teams and councils are as follows.  Click here to find out about the next meeting.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL consists of parent, teacher, and administrator representatives to review the ongoing implementation of the School Single Plan, which includes the student performance goals and instructional activities related to them. This council is responsible for the School Improvement Program budget which supports the Plan. The budget currently funds our part-time class-size reduction teacher and some of the instructional assistant time for the classrooms.

OVERLAND COMMUNITY COUNCIL consists of parent, teacher, and administrator representatives that focus on the school culture of learning and safety, ongoing communication at school and in the community, improvements in curriculum and instruction, assessment of student and teacher performance, and hiring school staff.

ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE consists of parent, teacher, and administrator leader representatives and is a State program that provides funding to improve the academic achievement of English learners. The committee makes budgetary recommendations to the School Site Council.

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAM is composed of grade-level chairs, a special education teacher, and administrators. The team focuses on the instructional program of the school. The team ensures that there is clear communication among all grade levels and stakeholders.

PARENT LEADERSHIP TEAM consists of the chairs of the School Site Council, Overland Community Council, English Learner Advisory Committee, Friends of Overland, Parent Teacher Association, and administration. The Parent Leadership Team focuses on connections to the community and resources for the school. The team ensures that there is clear communication among all groups.
